Rocks in My Pockets
The grim history of the director’s family and mental illness begins during the 1920s when beautiful Anna falls in love with an entrepreneur 30 years her senior. After many years, Signe discovers that her granny Anna, along with several other women in the family, suffer from depression and anxiety, the same condition she is grappling with, but the family is strictly silent about it all. She uses animated filmmaking as a form of therapy. She has not only written and directed the script, but she also narrates the story. Her personal commitment establishes a special bond between her and her audience.
